Ron Preyer

Ron Preyer has been a Vocalist for over 40 years he was an original member of the The Younghearts, formed in 1967 in Los Angeles California.

 

In January 1967 they released their debut single  “A Little Togetherness” on Canterbury which reached the top 10 of the US R&B Charts and later became a Northern Soul Classic.

After their initial success they were signed to Minit releasing their debut Album Sweet Soul Shakin' in 1968. Producing high quality harmony Soul their falsetto style separated them from many music groups of that era.

Although their line up changed over the years and were briefly The New Younghearts in 1970 Ron remained a key fixture. The single released in this guise 'Young Hearts Get Lonely Too' is an in demand Rare Soul collectors item.

In 1973 they were signed to 20th Century Fox reducing in number from a quartet to a trio resulting in the highly sought after 'Do you Have The Time' as the title track became a Connoisseurs Classic.

This was quickly followed in 1974 by 'A Taste of.. ' producing the popular You're Not Here With Me  and We're All God's Children.

Their final Album All About Love was released in 1977 on ABC. 

The Younghearts toured right across the US alongside the likes of The Temptations, The Dells, The Delfonics, The Moments, The Whispers, The Miracles, The Supremes, Barry White, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight and even The Rolling Stones among others!

 

In 1978 Ron went solo and signed to Shock Records resulting in another Connoisseurs Classic 'If You Don’t Want My Love'.

He later released the sought after 'Hey Love' as the Younghearts as well as in his own name.

Still in fine voice and performing to this day he signed to Industry Music Group in 2020, a label dedicated continuing the tradition of Sweet Harmony Soul exemplified by Ron Preyer.

 

His new single “Diary of a Youngheart” pays tribute to his time as a Youngheart member with more to come to add to his legacy!
