The Soul Steppers

Brighton based 10 piece outfit The Soul Steppers famed for their live performances of deep funk & soul music, an authentic mix of their own arrangements of rare & underplayed ‘45 gems from the 60’s & 70’s along with some fresh original material. 

 

The band features super soulful female vocals from Lizzie Boyd., firing funky keys, screeching horns, backed by a super tight rhythm section.

The 'Steppers have come together to shake up and wake up the live soul music scene with their unique blend of sister funk & sweet soul.

This aint no soul standards covers band, this is 100% bona fide big band funky soul music , perfect for the knowledgable soul heads & ideal for those who just love the funk & soul sound.

The band have now played 8 consecutive sold out shows at the well renowned Soho Pizza Express Jazz Club, have twice been the main live act for The Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club, part of the Line up at The Jalapeño Records winter Bop in their hometown, and performed sold out shows at London’s Jazz Cafe & Blues Kitchen.

Although the focus was always to be a live act, the band finally decided to write some original material and this is the first single from a forthcoming EP.

​

The music highlights their big band sound, featuring a super tight rhythm section, seriously soulful vocals & a punchy 4 piece horn section.

Written & produced by Mark Treffel & Tony Mead. ‘Slow It Down’ is co-written with guitarist, Glenn Fallows.

 

This double header fits neatly into the current 'Retro Soul' sound that is proving so popular across the world.
